Ryan McGettigan is the resident scenic designer for Cape Rep Theatre in Brewster, MA, where he has garnered rave reviews for such shows as Avenue Q, Eurydice, Beauty Queen of Leenane, and many more. He is currently based in Houston, TX, where he has designed for Stages Repertory Theatre, Main Street Theatre, Houston Grand Opera's HGOco, and several collaborations with Rice University's Shepherd School of Music opera program. In Texas, Ryan has also designed for the Abilene Shakespeare Festival.
He began his career in Boston, and returns there often to design scenery and projections for such companies as Stoneham Theatre, Centastage, The Village Theatre Project, Fiddlehead Theatre, and the Nora Theatre Company. He has designed scenery for operas, straight plays, musicals, and also a televised awards program. Other design credits span the eastern seaboard from the Legacy Theatre down in Atlanta, Georgia, to the Barnstormers Theatre up in northern New Hampshire.
His accolades include a New Hampshire Theater Festival award and an EVVY award for outstanding scenic design. His design for Moliere's The Misanthrope was honored as the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Region 1 Alternate for the national award. Ryan is a proud graduate of Emerson College where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in scenic design.
